In an increasing number of European countries, it is becoming mandatory to dismantle mattresses and separate the materials to enable proper recycling. One of the materials recovered through this process is steel. In many cases, each spring is enclosed in a 'pocket'. We purchase these pocket springs and ensure that the materials are separated, allowing them to be reused effectively in new applications.
Some of the mattresses contain clean steel springs, without the pocket. The clean steel can therefore be separated without too much processing, and pressed into clean bales.
We work with carefully selected processors and smelters to ensure that every type of metal ends up in the right place and can be reused.
By reusing metals from recycling processes, we ensure that valuable raw materials are preserved and returned to the production chain.
